Clothing

Clothes will wash but memories will last a lifetime!
At Cwtch Childcare the children take part in a wide range of activities throughout the day in all weathers both in and outdoor, using all manner of materials.
If a child is completely engrossed in play, using their imagination and freely expressing themselves using their whole body and we stopped them to put an apron on, we will be interrupting their thought process, a learning opportunity and brain development!
A child leaving our settings with lots of paint, sand, stains and messy clothes is a sign of a day of enjoyment, play and learning and we won’t apologise for that.
We recommend that parents/carers consider appropriate clothing for children’s busy and creative day ahead.
Children need to wear suitable age appropriate clothes to our settings. Children are encouraged to have a spare set of clothes just in case they need to change which can be stored at the setting. We encourage the children to dress themselves, so please make sure all items are clearly marked with your child's name, and that the clothes and shoes you supply are easy for them to put on and deal with on their own.
We advise children are not dressed in their best attire, but are in clothes that parents/carers do not mind becoming stained or damaged.
As a general guide, this is what we recommend:
Children need light warm layers, a suitable waterproof jacket and Wellington boots. We also recommend a hat, mittens (not gloves), and a fleecy jacket rather than a heavy coat.
Children are vulnerable to warm sunny weather, so please provide a sun hat and clothing that covers the tops of their arms. Crocs are great for the garden, (NO flip flops please), and all sandals should be enclosed and fastened with Velcro or a buckle strap. This will ensure toes are not hurt.
Messy play can come in all forms – painting, water, sand, mud, slims and much more. Even though aprons are provided and children have the option to use them.
We hope that once your child is with us that they feel that they are at home. We encourage children to remove their shoes and wear ‘comfy’ footwear such as slippers. Some children choose to be bare foot. Children are welcome to leave their slippers at our settings and access them as they choose.
We do offer a Cwtch uniform which can be purchased from our settings.
Unfortunately, Cwtch Childcare accept no responsibility for damaged, stained or lost clothing, including footwear.
We believe in being open and transparent with our families before and during your time with us is important, that’s why we created the Parent Zone.
The Parent Zone is here to help you make a right decision about your childcare and to make sure Cwtch is the right place for you, your children and family. We believe communicating important information, including sharing general information about our settings, our policies, procedures and quick guides.
The information contained in the Parent Zone is information that families have told us is important to them. The zone is updated regularly and we are always happy to receive feedback on what else you might like us to include!
For specific policies, procedures or documents relating to a setting, we advise that you contact the setting direct and the Setting Manager will be happy to help.
